Inside Yotta NM1: Asia’s Largest Tier IV Data Center
Colocation data centers are pivotal for businesses seeking robust, reliable and scalable infrastructure without the burden of managing their own facilities. They offer a secure environment for IT assets, providing for high availability, resilient power, and advanced cooling and monitoring systems—all managed by experts. With these services, companies can ensure optimal performance and security while reducing operational complexity.
Strategiclally located in Navi Mumbai, Yotta’s NM1 facility, stands as Asia’s largest Tier IV data center, certified by the Uptime Institute for Gold Operational Sustainability. Designed to meet the demands of modern businesses, NM1 offers a future-ready, high-performance environment equipped with scalable, energy-efficient infrastructure. Spanning 820,000 square feet across 16 floors, Yotta NM1 data center can house up to 7,200 racks, with an IT power capacity of 36 MW. Yotta NM1 is a part of a larger Data Center campus with scalable capacity of up to 1 GW.
AI-Ready Infrastructure and Cutting-Edge Features
Yotta NM1 is designed to meet the demands of modern businesses. The facility can support GPU-intensive applications and massive computational workloads, making it ideal for large-scale machine learning models, big data analytics, and other resource-heavy applications.
Hosting Shakti Cloud, Yotta NM1 powers a world-class AI cloud infrastructure, featuring H100 GPUs and L40S GPUs. This infrastructure ensures that businesses have access to the computational resources needed for complex AI tasks.
With a design PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) below 1.5, the facility ensures high performance while maintaining sustainability. This enables enterprises to meet operational demands with minimal environmental impact.
Power Infrastructure and Redundancy
The facility is powered by a dual feed, redundant 110/33 KV substation, receiving power from – the Khopoli and Chembur substations ensuring a steady and resilient power supply, critical for businesses that require uninterrupted service.
Yotta NM1 is equipped with an N+1 redundancy on upstream transformers (4+1 setup), ensuring backup capacity to maintain operations even during maintenance or failure of a primary transformer. Downstream, the 33kV feeders and 33/11 kV substations distribute power across Yotta DC premises with a reliable feed system, while N+2 redundancy on downstream transformers (30+2 setup). Additionally, NM1 operates its own power distribution infrastructure and an operational license, adding another layer of independence and stability to its power delivery capabilities.
The facility’s uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and power distribution unit (PDU) systems are configured with N+N redundancy, offering the highest level of power stability to critical systems. This layered approach to redundancy and reliability ensures that NM1 can sustain operations seamlessly, even in challenging scenarios.
Security with Multi-Layered Protection
Yotta NM1 features a rigorous 15-layer physical security framework that encompasses advanced threat detection and monitoring protocols. Security measures include explosive and narcotics detection at key entry points, server key access management, and automated mantraps that secure access to server hall floors. These measures, combined with NM1’s state-of-the-art surveillance systems, offer maximum protection against unauthorised access or malicious threats.
The Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) work in tandem to provide around-the-clock monitoring and swift incident response. While the NOC ensures optimal network performance and reliability, the SOC focuses on identifying and mitigating security threats through automated intrusion detection and real-time threat management. They provide a comprehensive layer of security, giving clients confidence that their data is safeguarded by both physical and digital defenses.
Advanced Monitoring and Management Systems
Yotta NM1’s building management system (BMS) is among the most advanced in the industry, equipped to monitor and manage the entire facility around the clock. The BMS tracks all essential operational parameters, like power consumption, temperature and more to ensure smooth functionality, efficiency, and security.
A dedicated helpdesk monitors and manages automated alerts, ensuring that any anomaly is addressed promptly, and provides ticket management to swiftly handle client requests or technical support needs. The continuous monitoring and management system underscores Yotta NM1’s commitment to a zero-downtime operational standard, ensuring that clients can focus on their core business operations with minimal interruptions.
